In 1843, Charles Dickens wrote a story about a man named Ebenezer whose heart had grown as cold as the lump of coal that sat in his little stove. For Ebenezer, there was no joy or hope in Christmas. Only another holiday to get through, another set of bills to pay.
But one night, Ebenezer is paid a visit by three ghosts – one from the past, the present, and the future – and his life is forever changed.
The story of “A Christmas Carol” continues to capture our hearts and imaginations because, if we are honest, there’s a little bit of Scrooge in each of us. Perhaps, we all could use a little help experiencing the kind of Christmas God desires for us.
That’s what our new message series Ghosts of Christmas is all about. We will be looking at how God can help us forgive and heal our Christmas Past, live more fully in our Christmas Present, and embrace the kind of Future hope He has for each of us.
