A veteran of thirty-plus years in early childhood education, Libby has earned degrees from the University of North Carolina–Charlotte, including a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services and Child Psychology and a Master’s degree in Teaching. Libby has a graduate level certificate of specialization from the University of Illinois’ Center for the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learners (CSEFEL). She earned her North Carolina Teaching Licensure for grades K-6. Libby has specializations in infant and toddler development, and with children with special needs and developmental delays.
Prior to joining The Learning Tree, Libby was the Executive Director of the Davidson-Cornelius Child Development Center and a Program Coordinator and Educational Consultant at Barium Springs Home for Children. She was also previously employed by the NC Smart Start organization in their Healthy Social Behaviors Project as a Specialist for 5 years, as well as with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as a 1st, 3rd and ESL Teacher. Her first experience in a child care facility began at the age of 17 at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Cornelius, NC.
Libby is no stranger to the community, having grown up in the Davidson and Cornelius communities. Currently, she lives with her husband and family in Huntersville and they are both Ministry Partners of Lake Forest Church. Together they have 8 children and all are living in their own homes or are in college.
