Go with us as we serve the Christmas Village Toy Store
The Christmas Village Toy Store provides assistance for families in greater Charlotte who want to purchase affordable new toys for their children at Christmas. Rather than simply giving a handout of gifts to at-risk families, we believe in empowering them by providing an opportunity to purchase gifts at a deeply discounted rate. All profits from the store itself are then reinvested to feed the hungry in our community – last year we were able to provide $13,000 to agencies who feed the hungry in North Mecklenburg.
Lake Forest-Huntersville will serve as a host site for the store – to reach families on the North side of Charlotte – on Saturday, December 14. But before we can open the doors to guest shoppers, there is much to prepare!
GO FOR IT: Volunteer
Every aspect of the Christmas Village Toy Store is dependent on volunteers. There are a variety of ways for adults, students and children to get involved – from distributing Wish Lists, to collecting and pricing toys, to stocking the shelves, to warmly greeting our guest shoppers.
Here are places to get involved:
- Davidson Campus: Wish List Distribution and Toy Collections
- Huntersville Campus: Wish List Distribution
- Huntersville Campus: Toy Collections and Pricing
- Toy Store Set-Up or Breakdown
- Toy Store Operations
Please contact Gerri Fieno if you have any questions about volunteering.
GO FOR IT: Shop for Gifts
On November 24 and December 1, you will have the opportunity to pick up a Wish List at both of our campuses and then shop for gifts for a specified age and gender. We’ll collect the gifts at both campuses on December 8.
“Because of your kindness, warmth, and having this program it made my son have a great Christmas when I was worried he wouldn’t have a Christmas at all. Words just can’t express how much this meant to me…..I was so full of joy and happiness because nothing like this has ever happened to us before. Truly God is good!”
Invitations to shop at the Christmas Village Toy Store at LFC-Huntersville are limited to our north-Charlotte neighbors through our existing partners in the area. As you can imagine, the shopping demand is exceedingly high, while our supply of toys is limited to the amount of gifts that are donated by area churches and businesses.
