Lake Forest has been honored to serve as a host church for the Urban Ministry Center’s Room in the Inn for the past 12 years – providing physical and spiritual shelter to men and women who are without homes during the year’s harshest season. Each hosting session at our Huntersville campus provides an opportunity for several individuals to serve and love our guests as Jesus would – with respect, relationship and understanding.
That’s where you come in.

You can also pick-up a Room in the Inn card in the Info Center and fill out the information on the back. Note: Volunteers are only expected to serve one evening/morning for each of the needs listed below…unless you’d like to do more.
PREPARE THE INN: 
Prepare beds, stock supplies, decorate, etc.
Needed: 12:30pm on February 12 and March 11.
TEAR DOWN:
Breakdown beds, clean-up, rearrange furniture, etc.
Needed: Mornings of February 15 and March 14.
TIME WITH OUR GUESTS:
Serve as Overnight Host (two hosts needed/night) – Needed evenings of February 13&14 and March 12&13 .
Transportation from Charlotte – Needed February 13&14; March 12&13. Volunteers will pick up guests at the Urban Ministry Center at 5pm and bring them to LFC.
Transportation to Charlotte – Needed February 14&15; March 13&14. Volunteers will pick up guests at LFC at 7am and bring them to the Uptown Bus Station.
Massage feet/Paint Nails – Needed evenings of February 13&14; March 12&13.
Cut/ Style Hair – Needed evenings of February 13&14; March 12&13.
MEALS:
Make Dinner, Bring Drinks (for 24 guests and volunteers) – Need ready by 5:45pm on February 13&14; March 12&13.
Serve Dinner, Share Time with Guests, Clean-up – Needed evenings (6pm) of February 13&14; March 12&13.
Serve Breakfast -Serve breakfast beginning at 5:30am the mornings of February 14&15; March 13&14.
Make Bag Lunches – Needed for the mornings of February 14&15; March 13&14. Volunteers will provide bag lunches with beverages for the 12 guests. (can drop off the night before or by 6:30am the day of)
LAUNDRY:
Launder Guest Clothing – Needed February 13&14; March 12&13. Pick up guest laundry at 7pm and return around 9pm.
Launder Linens – Needed the mornings of February 14&15; March 13&14. Pick up after 7am and return by 3pm.
