One More Child leads our church to love vulnerable children in the name of Jesus by taking them into our families and our church. This ministry wants to see families at Lake Forest welcoming vulnerable children into their family and to see the church love those children as they grow in Christ.
Here are some ways to get involved in the ministry:
God has gifted our church body with many families who have adopted, fostered or cared for a vulnerable child. We know that it is a calling with special joys, but also unique struggles. So we want to provide a loving community that provides friendship, mentorship, counseling, parenting wisdom, and other shared resources.
If you are a foster or adoptive family, or if you are considering these, or if you just want to be a part of caring for these children in our church, we’d love for you to be a part of one of our next gatherings.

Safe Families is the church becoming an extended-family-like-support for desperate parents and their children. Families who are in crisis are connected to a Safe Families church, and the parents give temporary guardianship of their children to loving Host Families. These Host Families care for the child until the child can be reunited with their parents, which is the utmost goal.
In Charlotte, the local government has formally reached out to the church and asked for the church’s help to partner and care for children who have been taken from their parents because of abuse or neglect and placed in Department of Social Services (DSS) care. This an opportunity for the church to love the most vulnerable children in our city. LFC is partnered with a network of churches in Charlotte called “For Charlotte,”” who have launched an initiative called “Congregations for Kids.”
Every child deserves to have a trusted adult who can serve as a mentor and friend. But for children in foster care, these crucial relationships do not come easy.HERE’S WHERE YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, LFC TRIBE!
During the Weekend Miracles event, local children (ages 9-17) have a chance to get to know and be matched with caring individuals/families who will meet with them at least 2x/month to provide fun and encouragement.
Look for a table with more info on Sundays in early October or go ahead and reach out to Amanda Goedert now for more information about next steps, including an Orientation on October 18.
