For Better or For Kids: A Vow to Love Your Spouse with Kids in the House (This class has reached its 25-person limit.)
Leader: Bekah Stitt
Marriage has many challenges on its own, and when you combine kids in the mix, it can seem overwhelming to find time to invest in both.  For Better or For Kids is a study that will help you in your marriage as well as encourage you with your children.  This book will help build a God-centered marriage instead of a child-centered or me-centered marriage, avoiding the dangers of spouse-neglect and self-neglect.  We will learn to effectively communicate in the chaos and find balance in the busyness.  Join us in this study as we work on making a vow to love our spouse even with kids in the house.

Book Needed: “For Better or for Kids: A Vow to Love Your Spouse with Kids in the House” by Ruth and Patrick Schwenk

Guided Solitude
Leader: Maria Furlough
Ever want to spend time alone with God, but have no clue when or how?  This class is for you.  Every week you will receive the tools you need to spend time with God alone and also receive the time to do it.  During our weekly class time we will not only receive encouragement and guidance, we will also begin a solitude habit with God that we will not want to break.
No homework, just you, your Bible and a journal.

The Lost Art of Listening:  How Learning to Listen Can Improve Relationships
Leader: Kristi Leonard

Ever feel that social media leads to more “friends” but less real conversations?
Wishing you could go deeper in conversations with a spouse or your parents?
Want to better shepherd your kids’ hearts by helping them open up with you?

Listening can be life-changing! It draws busy families closer, even when you feel scattered and hectic. Listening deepens friendships, and it renew marriages. Whether you are a friend, mom, colleague, spouse, or daughter – learning to listen is a rare and sacred gift. Learn how to avoid your own barriers to listening and how to “love your neighbor” better by listening better.

Book Needed: “The Lost Art of Listening (Second Edition): How Learning to Listen Can Improve Relationships” by Michael P. Nichols

Philippians: A study of humility, contentment, joy and peace
Leader: Lee McCracken
Read along with Lydia and the women at the church of Philippi in this letter of encouragement from the Apostle Paul. Engage in the verse-by-verse lessons of how God’s character and competence can help us endure any circumstance. Take scripture to heart and pray its riches!

Let’s talk about moving from complacency and self-sufficiency to boldness in Jesus. Let’s claim God-confidence in our relationships and daily activities. We’ll sometimes color, journal and sit in quiet reflection … but we’ll always consider how God’s purposes are being worked out through our struggles, and how his power can shine through us.

Book Needed: “Word Writers: Philippians: Experience the Bible . . . Writing Word by Denise Hughes

Women's Oasis Studies: Evening Offerings

Breaking Free: Beth Moore Study
Wednesdays: September 20 – November 29
Led by Candace Hall
Beth considers Breaking Free her life message. This in-depth Bible study leads you through Isaiah 61:1-4 to discover the transforming power of Christian freedom by drawing parallels between the captive Israelites and the spiritual strongholds in our lives.
No matter what life stage you’re in or struggles you’re going through, if where you are isn’t where you want to be, don’t stay there. Break free.
Book Needed: “Breaking Free: Bible Study Book” by Beth Moore.
Gideon: Priscilla Shirer Study
Thursdays: September 21-November 2
Led by Janette Wells
Like everything else in the Bible, this is a story about God and His people. His love for them, as well as His strength operating in spite of their weakness—even through their weakness. And because God’s people includes you and me, Gideon’s story is also about us—our lives, our doubts, our struggles, and our possibilities as believers.
This study will encourage you to recognize your weakness as the key that the Lord gives you to unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. In what ways do you feel insufficient? Those places create the greatest opportunity to experience the sufficiency of God.

Book Needed: “Gideon – Bible Study Book: Your Weakness. God’s Strength” by Priscilla Shirer

Sacred Marriage

Sundays: September 24 – October 29
6-8pm at LFC-Huntersville
Led by Denise and Mark Tornberg
Free childcare for ages 0-10 years.

Happy is good. Holy is better.

Your marriage is more than a sacred covenant with another person. It is a spiritual discipline designed to help you know God better, trust him more fully, and love him more deeply.  What if God’s primary intent for your marriage isn’t to make you happy . . . but holy?

Based on teachings from the book Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas, this class doesn’t just offer techniques to make a marriage happier. It does contain practical tools, but what married Christians most need is help in becoming holier husbands and wives. Sacred Marriage offers that help with insights from Scripture, church history, time tested wisdom from Christian classics, and examples from today’s marriages.

Book needed: Sacred Marriage Participants Guide

Marriage Workshop: Intimacy

Saturday, October 28
9am-Noon at LFC-Huntersville
Childcare for ages 0-10.
Limited to 25 couples.
Led by LFC Marriage Ministry Team

God’s design for marriage includes intimacy. But intimacy is also one of the top issues people face in their marriages (even according to a survey conducted at LFC). Why? Because men and women experience and initiate closeness with one another in different ways. To cut to the chase: most men begin with sex and most women begin with emotional connection. These differences cause many couples to want to throw their hands up and quit – but in doing so, we miss out on one of the sweetest aspects of our marriages.

That’s why LFC’s Marriage Ministry team wants to help open healthy and honest discussion regarding intimacy and provide tools couples can use to break the ice and grow closer with one another. In this workshop, we’ll spend time talking as a group and then break into smaller groups so we can further dive into topics.

We’re determined to laugh a lot, too!

Women's DAWG Day (Registration closed)

DAWG (Day Alone With God) Day for Women
Wednesday, October 11 from 9am-3:30pm
20026 Shearwater Point Drive, Cornelius, NC
Led by Cammie Howard
Cost is $10. (lunch provided)
You’ve probably heard that spending time alone with God is an important element of a healthy spiritual life and a great way to re-center your soul. But if you’re like a lot of women, spending just 10 minutes in quiet reflection can feel overwhelming…maybe even terrifying! It’s hard to know where to start and how to keep distraction out.
We want to help.
During this DAWG Day on the lake, Family Ministry Director Cammie Howard will help you learn how to schedule, relax into and craft meaningful times of solitude that can help you grow closer to Jesus. You’ll also enjoy small group time, lunch together, and a couple of guided times of solitude with God.
Register here.
