LFC-Huntersville Classes

Welcome 101

If you’re new to Lake Forest and you are looking for opportunities to make connections and grow in your faith, the best starting place is our Welcome 101 course.

During these sessions, our pastors will lead you on a journey to help you identify where you are spiritually and also help you define your next step. As you discover your role in God’s story, you’ll build relationships, find places to share your gifts and have an opportunity to become a LFC Ministry Partner (our term for member).

Each session of Welcome 101 is three consecutive Sundays from 6-7:45pm with free childcare (0-10 years).

Winter Session 2: February 25 & March 4, 11

Spring Session 1: April 15, 22 & 29

Discovering Baptism

Baptism is an important and exciting step of faith for Christ followers and their children. For adults, it’s a public declaration that you are choosing to partner with the Church in this journey. Infant/Child baptism is a public way of also claiming God’s promises for your children; looking forward, in hope, to the day they would recognize Jesus as their Savior.

If you would like to be a part of LFC’s next baptism service on MARCH 25, or want to know more about our belief around baptism, please make plans to attend a Discovering Baptism class. In this one-hour class, you can learn about LFC’s baptism beliefs and requirements for adults, children and infants.

Two class offerings to choose from:
Sunday, February 11 at 9:30am. Register.
Sunday, March 11 at 9:30am. Register.

Led by Jaye Soss

Are you seeking a more intimate connection with Christ?  Do you feel unequipped to really explore the Word?  If so, then consider joining us starting March 15 for a six-week excursion called “The Quest.”  This brand new study from Beth Moore uses questions from Scripture to lead you into intimacy with the One who knows you best. Learn to dig into the Word, to respond to the questions of God, and to bring your questions before Him.

  • Learn to pray to promote intimacy with God.
  • Explore questions and responses from the Bible.
  • Track your quest by journaling along the way.
  • Learn to read and respond to Scripture.

Materials Needed: “The Quest – Study Journal: An Excursion Toward Intimacy with God”

Tuesdays: March 13 – April 17 from 7-8:30pm
Led by Natalie Christian

If someone asked you to explain the gospel, what would you say? What is the good news of the Christian faith? Writing to the Galatians, Paul made it clear how easily we can be tempted to turn toward fraudulent gospels, especially those that teach we can earn God’s love through our works. Through verse-by-verse study and engaging lessons, we’ll find how true freedom is found in surrender, not self-dependence.

James Study
Led by Amy Crossan and Meghan Kosar
In this study, we will be unpacking the book of James. Short in length, but rich in material, James paints a picture of true religion—a faith not just of hearing but of doing. The James Study Book from “She Reads Truth” will provide scripture references and room for response, with practical questions from Francis Chan’s James study helping us to discover actionable ways to live out the Gospel in our daily lives.

Each week, we will dive in together, ask the hard questions and also leave space for reflection and journaling.  We will be using “Live it out” questions to guide the quiet time (about 30 min at the end of each class).

Materials Needed: Bible and “She Reads Truth” James Study

Gideon Study
Led by Lee McCracken
Gideon’s story is about us — finding the God-given strength to face our fears and to live out how He’s purposing of our lives for His glory. We doubt. We feel weak. We struggle. Discover how, from a state of insecurity (ill-equipped and outnumbered), Gideon emerged as Israel’s hero, filled with God’s presence and power. Come see God in a much bigger way. Be encouraged to recognize weakness as the key to unlocking the full experience of His sufficiency and sovereignty.

Materials Needed: Bible and “Gideon” Bible Study by Priscilla Shirer

Feasts of the Bible

Sundays, February 25 – April 8 (skips Easter Sunday)
6-8pm at LFC-Huntersville
Led by Steve Hunter

Leviticus 23 outlines a series of annual Holy Days (or Feasts) that God commanded Israel to observe from “generation to generation.”  Its easy to dismiss these Feasts as ancient and obscure celebrations with no relevance to modern day Christians, but they contain amazing symbolism and foreshadow God’s plan of salvation.

In this class led by Ministry Partner Steve Hunter, we explore the 7 Annual Holy Days and learn how each festival represents a step in God’s “big picture”:  from Christ’s sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sin, through His final return and restoration of all things.  We will see how echoes of the gospel message can be found through both the Old and New testament, and how each of the Feasts are (or will be) fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Bring your Bible.

You’ve probably heard that spending time alone with God is an important element of a healthy spiritual life and a great way to re-center your soul. But if you’re like a lot of women, spending just 10 minutes in quiet reflection can feel overwhelming…maybe even terrifying! It’s hard to know where to start and how to keep distraction out. We want to help.

During this DAWG Day on the lake, Family Ministry Director Cammie Howard will help you learn how to schedule, relax into and craft meaningful times of solitude that can help you grow closer to Jesus. You’ll also get some small group time, lunch together, and a couple guided times of solitude with God!

Bring journal and Bible. $10 fee covers lunch and snacks.

NOTE: Will occur at home in Lake Norman-area (directions provided upon registration).
