Our pastors are available to meet with members of our congregation who are seeking guidance on a variety of personal and family issues – from simply naming the issue to helping connect you to the proper growth solution. However, because of their limited availability, for long-term counseling needs, they will typically refer you to one of the competent and caring Christian counselors, psychologists, or psychiatrists that we have teamed with to provide care for situations including, but not limited to:
- Conflict in marriage
- Family & Parenting
- Addictions
- Divorce
- Depression & Anxiety
- Eating Disorders
- Grief & Loss

Pre-Marital Counseling
We believe that marriage is one of the greatest blessings our God has given and we want to help make sure you are ready for this lifelong commitment. Therefore, all of our pastors require pre-marital counseling before performing a wedding. It’s a time to prepare well for life after “the big day” and build a foundation for a strong Biblical marriage.
Due to the increasing number of new marriages, and the limited availability of our pastors, we now partner with licensed Christian counselors to provide these sessions in two different formats.
Group Counseling
You will join 1-3 other couples in doing group pre-marriage counseling with a licensed marriage counselor. The cost is $200/couple and includes the following:
- An online couples assessment that must be completed prior to the first session.
- Three group sessions and one private couple session with counselor. Each session is 1.5 hours.
Together you’ll learn and discuss:
- What does the Bible say about marriage?
- Communication: Are you talking or communicating?
- What we fight about the most: Sex and Finances
During the individual session, each couple will go over results of the couples assessment.
These group sessions are offered three times a year: September, January, May.
The next group sessions will be Jan. 13, 20 and 27 from 4:30-6pm at LFC-Huntersville. Email premarriage@lakeforest.org for more information and to register. Spots are limited – first come, first serve.
Couples Counseling
You and your better half will meet as an individual couple with a licensed marriage counselor. The cost is $335/couple and includes the following:
- An online couple assessment that must be completed prior to the first session.
- Four sessions with counselor. Each session is 1.5 hours.
Sessions will cover:
- Results of couples assessment.
- What does the Bible say about marriage?
- Communication-are you talking or communicating?
- What we fight about the most: Sex and Finances
- Conflict/Budgeting/Parenting/and other topics the couple wants to explore.
