Leadership Weekend

Hope: Change is Gonna Come

Release your vision. Recalibrate your heart.

Renew your passion for the lost and the hopeless.

Pastors, missionaries, lay-leaders of adults, children and students, church staff and others who are in church leadership positions in the Charlotte area, you are invited to the 2012 Leadership Weekend, HOPE – Change is Gonna Come!

A LEADERSHIP WEEKEND FOR YOU!

January 27-28, 2012 at Lake Forest Church

Friday Evening: 7-9pm (doors open at 6pm)
Saturday Morning: 9am-12pm

Over and over the Scriptures remind us of the hope that we have in Christ. We cherish this hope, but many times forget that it should also be given away to people who do not have it. As a leader, we encounter many who have forgotten or have never known this hope that is found as a follower of Jesus Christ. This leadership weekend will recalibrate your heart for the lost and hopeless and provide practical training for more and better conversations and ministries that share the hope of Christ.

Register for the leadership weekend.

Registration for the Friday teaching and Saturday morning sessions is free but you must have a ticket to attend. Go to lakeforest.org to register and print your confirmation sheet, this is your ticket. Please bring your confirmation sheet with you to enter the Friday and Saturday morning events. Childcare is not provided.

Purchase tickets ($12) to see Mike Farris and the Roseland Rhythm Revue in concert.

The Saturday evening concert is NOT included in the free registration for the leadership weekend.

Best-selling author, Donald Miller

Don MillerDonald Miller will help us recalibrate our hearts – for ourselves and for those who do not yet know the hope of Christ. Donald Miller became best known through his New York times bestseller, Blue Like Jazz, the story of his experience at Reed College, voted at that time as “the most godless campus in the country.” Since then Don has written other best sellers: Searching for God knows What and A Million Miles in a Thousand Years (the story of his writing of the screenplay for Blue Like Jazz-the movie).

In the fall of 2011, Don created The Storyline Conference, a two-day event to help individuals, churches and business staff write a better story for their life and work. We are excited to be a part of what Don does best—help you find your story, see how God is redeeming it and allow this to help you see the story of others that God longs to redeem. Learn more about Don at www.donmilleris.com.

Award-winning musician, Mike Farris

Mike FarrisThe music of Mike Farris will recalibrate our soul with his blend of rock, blues, and old time gospel.

In music there are those special artists that seem to transcend genre and defy categorization. From time to time one hears a voice that can stop you dead in your tracks and shake your very foundation to the core. Mike Farris is that artist and he has that voice. In the early 2000’s after having spent nearly a decade being the front man and main writer for the Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies, Mike Farris began looking for a new musical direction.

In June of 2007 he released the critically acclaimed Salvation in Lights which married old time roots gospel sounds with his own unique arrangements, mainly inspired by New Orleans, Stax and the blues. The music was both spiritual and personal for Mike as it dealt with individual struggle but it also had a commonality that music fans from all walks of life could enjoy. In 2008 he won the Americana Music Associations’ “New & Emerging Artist of the Year” award.

In 2010 he and his Roseland Rhythm Revue produced a live recording of the Station Inn shows, Shout! Live, and won the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Award for “Best Traditional Gospel Album of the Year.” Learn more and sample the music of Mike Farris at www.mikefarrismusic.com.
